The living conditions were not good in Cuba because of the prime minister Fidel Castro was not treating them well. There was a lot of poverty and no food. They were talking about what to do next.
I'm Jumping in make it to the USA! I Love You
Not the Coast Guard
The family next door was working on a boat but they had no gas so Isabel sold her trumpet so that they could get some gas so that they could leave Cuba.
OOOOOOOO
Are You OK?
I love my new baby brother
What a nice baby
After Fidel Castro announced that people were allowed to leave they got the boat ready and left. Two police officers got on the boat. Luckily they were part of the neighbors' family.
I love my new School
Hi New Friend!!
The coast Guard was approaching so "Lito" jumped in to the water to distract them. Meanwhile the rest of the passengers were frantically rowing to reach the United States so that Isabel's mom's baby could be born in the United States.
The family made it to the United States just in time for the baby to be born on U.S. waters. Then the mother was taken to the hospital.
Isabel's family gets to stay with their uncle. She went to school and had some trouble until she learned some English. Her uncle gets her a trumpet and she is back playing her music again.
