Storyboard Text

  • The Aral Sea is the world's fourth largest inland body of water & covers around 26,000 squares miles.
  • Fifty years ago the southern shore of the Aral was right where we stand now , now it lies 55 miles away to the northwest.
  • The Aral Sea was fed by two major rivers the Amu Dayra & Syr Dayra. The water level had a natural balance between inflow & evaporation.
  • Arid climate affected growth.
  • When irrigation canals were added , the system suddenly became no longer sustainable , so the sea would vanish.
  • It is said that if many of these unhelpful and bad actions could lead the Aral Sea to be a giant piece of land.
