In 1607, the Jamestown colony was established and was the first British settlement in North America.
In 1607, the starving period occured because nobody wanted to work. Many other colonists died because of diseases.
In the Spring of 1610, settlers had arrived with supplies but found out that the previous colonists had left.
1612 is the most interesting year in Jamestown. In 1612 John Rolfe had a cash crop called tobacco which saved Jamestown. Later on, John Rolfe married Chief Powhatan's daughter, Pocahontas. Chief Powhatan is the leader of the Indians.
The first representative government was established in 1619. Following that was the creation of the House of Burgesses. The House of Burgesses is the first legislative assembly of elected representatives in North America.
