- James: Hey Nadine, how are you today? Want to join me in sharing helpful information to students now like the role of oxygen in respiration?
- Nadine: Hello, James. I'm just fine. Well, that's a good idea! Sure, why not?
- James: Did you know that oxygen is the final electron acceptor at the end of the electron transport chain. At the same time, it accepts H ions in the matrix to form water (waste product).
- Nadine: Wow, that's something amazing! Aside from that, if O2 is not available, electron will stop flowing through ETC. NADH+H cannot be converted to NAD+ and the link reaction cannot take place for aerobic respiration.
