The King was angry, he didn't enjoy the fact that all the tea that the East and India Company used was dumped into the ocean. He made five more laws to teach the colonists a lesson.
Colonists didn't like the additional acts and continued smuggling, boycotting, and protesting. To this point, colonists split into different groups. The first group was the loyalists, this group of people were loyal to the king because of this, the loyalists were given money and riches. The loyalists were rather fake people, they only stayed in England for the money. How do I know this? Well, because when England wasn't doing so well and needed more soldiers the loyalists just declined. Next are the patriots, this group was people who weren't loyal to England. The colonists who smuggled and boycotted were patriots, including Crispus Attucks. The patriots had a group called the Continental Congress. Once in a while, they met to talk about how horrible the king was and different things in that topic like acts and battles. This included Benjamin Franklin, George Washington, and more! Lastly, were the fence sitters, they were neutral and didn't really pick a side until later on.
General Cornwallis , a strict general, wanted to BEAT Washington and his men, but that didn't happen!. Cornwallis planned an attack, but Washington was 10 steps ahead. Thankfully, 200 casualties for the British with another 300 injured or captured. So that means, the Americans won!
The patriots wanted to gain independence. There were five people selected to write the Declaration of Independence! Benjamin Franklin, John Adams, Thomas Jefferson ,Robert Livingston, and Roger Sherman.Jefferson was the one who had to write all the rules. Why? He was the most talented writer and they especially could advise on his writing!
I'd like to mention my favorite battles! My favorite battles was the Battle of Princeton and of Trenton. Why? Firstly, they are both in my home state, NEW JERSEY! Both made great wins for the patriots. I STILL CAN'T BELIEVE THAT GEORGE WASHINGTON WAS IN my STATE! I loved them both for their sneak attacks and plot twists, especially since General Washington was the one guiding them. In this image, I have a picture of the Battle of Trenton!
At this point, Americans were having it good! The French and Spanish have joined the patriots. Plus the Dutch! Also, a group of colonists, that weren't even in the American Army supported them as well. Their name was The Green Mountain Boys! They usually did HIT & RUNS!
