After the proplyd stage, the star then becomes a protostar. This is when fusion begins between hyrdrogen.
Using the hydrogen fusions as fuel, the star then goes into it's main sequence stage. It's most stable in this stage.
As the star exhausts it's energy source, it begins to become a red giant. This is the last stage before the star eventually dies.
The star spends it's last cycle as a white dwarf before it dies.
