Storyboard Text

  • I think that The Battle at Gettysburg is so cool we should make a Gettysburg summer camp for some of the days it was on. What are the dates?
  • It only lasted 3 days from July 1, 1863 to July 3, 1863
  • Camp Gettysburg July 1-3 Learn about Lee's failed adventure going to the North and he decides to go to Pennsylvania to try again. Even pick if you would be in the Confederate and pretend to secede the US or pretend to be in the union. We also write our own copy of the Gettysburg Adress.
  • Welcome to camp Gettysburg! Who can tell me some facts about Gettysburg?
  • The decision to fight at a Gettysburg was largely made by a small group of Confederate soldiers who went to town to buy shoes and saddles
  • On July 2 Lee began his attacking by  hitting the North's left flank at the peach orchard, Little Roundtop, and Devils Den
  • Lee knew it was over. The next day he led his broken troops back to Virginia. He  lost about 28,000 men which is about a third of his army.
  • General George Meade celebrated his victory briefly. Sensing the end, Lincoln ordered Meade to pursue the shattered Confederate forces.
