Around 210 AD, the Anglo-Saxons from Germany started attacking modern day England and stealing valubles and people, terrorising everyone. Then the Anglo-Saxons would return to Germany, and then return again.
The British wanted the roman army to try and fight the Anglo-Saxons, but Rome refused to sent the army. Britan fell to the Anglo-Saxons, because the Anglo-Saxons had nobody to fight. Anglo-Saxons started settling in Britan.
400 years later, a new group started attacking Britan. These were the Vikings. Eventually, they won land in the north of Brittan and settled down there.
Finally! I Edward the Confessor am king! What!? What bodies!?
The Anglo-Saxons had to move to the south of Brittan. Brittan was effectively not a whole country until King Canute came along in 1016 AD.
King Canute was king of England. He was a Viking, but hoped to get along with the Anglo-Saxons, so he made laws telling people how to get along.
When King Canute died, his sons Harold Harefoot and Harthacanute became king. Then when they died Edward the Confessor became king.
