The Estates General took place. People of the third estate summoned King Louis to a meeting hall. They protested against the large taxes that were placed upon them. King Louis was not keen on making change. This was the beginning of the French Revolution.

Every man deserves equal rights.
King Louis, in response to their rebellion, locked the third estate's meeting halls. This caused a lot of tension between the two parties. They instead met up at a tennis court, to propose ideas on how to start the revolution and make change. They then officially named themselves The National Assembly of France.
October 5th, 1789
We deserve equal rights! Lower our taxes!
The Bastille is attacked by the National Assembly of France. They attack this place because it is a symbol of the King's dictatorship. They used cannons and other weapons. The mob there was very determined to make change. The attack was a defining moment in the history of the revolution.
June 20th, 1791
The National Assembly of France meet together to discuss a new constitution. This is known as the August Decrees. During the meeting they discussed the elimination of feudalism, privileges of the nobility and seigneurialrights. They needed to decide what was best for the people. This was a crucial step in making a change in France's government.
The Women's March on Versailles occurs. That morning, a group of women went to buy bread. They were outraged by the high prices which they couldn't afford. This led to a huge protest in Versailles. They advocated for lower prices and taxes. This protest was an important part in changing French's constitution.
King Louis XVI and his family attempt to escape. Their attempt ends in them being caught. They planned to escape in order to avoid the revolution and continue his policies. The National Assembly of France however, were able to stop them before the family escaped. These events later led to the King and his Wife's death.
