Frederick Douglass was a slave ever since he was born. One day, he got traded to a house owned by a man maned Mr. Covey. He was known for crushing the spirits of slaves. As time passed over, Douglass grew more tired of Mr. Covey overworking him.
Frederick was working outside all day long without a break. He gets too tired to work and stops working. The sun was shining on Douglass as he laid in the grass.
After Mr. Covey failed to get Frederick back to work, he hit him on the head with a stick. But after he hit him with a stick, Frederick just stayed down as he bled in the sun and Mr. Covey left him alone.
