  • Newton's first law states that an object will stay in a rest motion until acted upon by an external force. The rocket will stay in rest form until acted on by the thrust of the engine (the external force) causing it to accel into the air.
  • To acheive a higher acceleration you can decrease the mass of the rocket, this ties in with Newton's second law because it states f=ma which in turn lowers the amount of force needed to reach the same acceleration.
  • Newton's 3rd law states that every action has an equal and opposite reaction. The engine has a 5N thrust backwards which in turn gives an equal and opposite push of 5N in the other direction.
