Frederick Douglass getting in trouble with Covey
Covey is about to whip Frederick
Frederick fights back
Frederick was working in the field when he passed out, "About three o'clock of that day, I broke down; my strength failed me; I was seized with a violent aching of the head, attended with extreme dizziness;" (excerpt 4- PG 5)
Covey finds the Douglass can not get up and tries to harm him. He then hits Frederick in the head, leaving him bloody.
"Mr.Covey seemed now to think he had me, and could do what he pleased; but at this moment-from whence came the spirt I don't know-I resolved to fight; and, suiting my acting to the resolution, I seized Covey hard by the throat; and as I did so, I rose" (Excerpt 4-PG 12)
