After the dinner, the father tries to apologize to his son for how he acted because he feels bad. He regrets embarrassing him in front or everyone.

His son tells him to leave him alone because of how he is acting. He then tries to fix the problem by offering his son to go with him the next day top buy a full scout uniform for him.

The boy decides he doesn't want to go to his Scout meetings anymore. His dad tries to change his mind by telling him how well he was doing by getting the certificates but the boy tells him that he left them. the dad tries to persuade him one more time but he runs away.
And as I hung up the phone it occurred to me, he'd grown up just like me.
The father in this song calls his son after not seeing or talking to him in a long time.
The son explains that just like when his father was younger, he has no time to talk to him because he is so busy.
Once the father hangs up, he realizes that his son had grown up just like him. Except instead of having no time for his kids, he had no time for anyone but his kids.
