In the Control Theory, this situation shows commitment and involvement. The coach took away her scholarship and kicked her off the team. By doing so, the girl has no commitment and is not involved in any extra curricular. The girl feel as there is no point anymore because the thing she was committed and involved with was taken away from her. She starts to feel as if basketball was the only thing helping her succeed, so she decides to give up. Her deviance act is causing her to fail test and class due to lack of commitment and involvement.

- There is no point of school now since I am kicked off the team. I am done trying.
