Storyboard Text

  • 1735 in New York...
  • EXTRA! EXTRA! Read all about it! New York Weekly Journal!
  • Did you see the New York Weekly Journal?
  • Yeah, I heard what Zenger wrote was pretty bad. Especially about the governor accepting bribes!
  • Sir, did you here what the New York Times article said?! It said that you accepted bribes!
  • It said WHAT about me?!
  • Judge: John Peter Zenger is here today because of criticizing a form of the King in Print.
  • A few days later in the court house...
  • Andrew Hamilton (Defender): I think that people should have the right to speak the truth.
  • Judge: Jury what do you think?
  • Jury: We all agree, let John Peter Zenger be released from this case.
  • And that is the story of John Peter Zenger and how freedom of the press was born.
