  • Hello there ladies and Gentlemen. Today we will be discussing the 12 pieces of figurative language. Lets get started!
  • Hyperbole is known as an exaggeration which means it's not literally true, it's made to sound like your emphasizing a feeling effort, or reason. 
  • an example is "this car drove fast down the road like it was greased lightning.
  • A Double Entendre is a word or phrase having a double meaning--usually one is risque.
  • an example of a Double Entendre is
  • A metaphor is a comparison that shows how two things that are not alike in most ways are similar (NOT using "like" or "as"
  • An example is Cat's smile is amazing to the moon and back. She's my Juliet.
  • I will put you flat on your back like Muhammad Ali.
  • An example for you is Austin is a fighter like Rocky Marciano.
  • A simile is a direct comparison of two things using "like" or "as".
  • Personification is giving human traits to non-living objects.
  • An example would be my flowers are begging for water.
