  • Base Camp
  • Climb Up The Mountain
  • Jordan, this isn’t a laughing matter. You should know that your father has gone through the same thing and sadly passed away. He was in the army, got shot, and had to get his leg amputated. He was in a coma from a blood clot due to his injury for a very long time but didn’t make it.
  • Peak
  • “Disabilities are no laughing matter and judging people for how they look is very rude.”
  • Imperfect
  • The story starts off with a table with crayons scattered all over. Olivia is a 12-year-old, short girl (because of her disability) with a part of her body missing. Jordan has no disabilities and thinks he is perfect. Jordan is also aggressive and seems angry all the time; He has nothing wrong with him physically but doesn’t have an understanding of disabilities. Rosella is a very smart, 9-year-old disabled girl.
  • Climb down the mountain
  • Jordan spots Oliva struggling to walk. He then makes fun of her for not being able to do a simple task like walking. Jordan’s mother then walks up to him and tells him a very important and upsetting story that Jordan was never told. “Jordan, this isn’t a laughing matter. You should know that your father has gone through the same thing and sadly passed away. He was in the army, got shot, and had to get his leg amputated. He was in a coma from a blood clot due to his injury for a very long time but didn’t make it.” After a few seconds, Jordan started to think about his reaction to Olivia’s disability. He then looks at Olivia.
  • Olivia starts to draw so she can prove him wrong. As she is drawing, she explains how having a piece of herself missing doesn’t define her as a person. Jordan starts to think to himself once again and perceived that “Disabilities are no laughing matter and judging people for how they look is very rude.” He then apologizes for his misbehavior.
  • Jordan then proceeds to apologize and Olivia forgives him. Ten they become friends and they talk about how Jordan should change the way he thinks about disabled people. He starts to raise awareness that disabilities are not something to be joked about.
  • It shows the table again, and Rosella uses both crayons drawing a heart saying “Broken Crayons Still Color!”
