Peter and John were speaking to the people, the priests, the captain of the temple, and the Sadducees came to them, annoyed because they were teaching the people and proclaiming that in Jesus there is the resurrection of the dead.
You have been arrested
So they arrested them and put them in custody until the next day, for it was already evening.
You shall be freed
The next day their rulers, elders, and scribes assembled in Jerusalem, with the high priest, and asked each other what to do with peter and John.
Where have they gone?
The cell is empty
The Sadducees arrested the apostles and put them in the public prison.
During the night an angel of the Lord opened the prison doors, brought them out, and said, 20 “Go, stand in the temple and tell the people the whole message about this life.”
The temple police went there, they did not find them in the prison; so they returned and reported, “We found the prison securely locked and the guards standing at the doors, but when we opened them, we found no one inside.”
