  • Tennis Court Oath

  • The End of the French Monarchy
  • The Third Estate, also known as the National Assembly, called for a meeting. They were kicked out of their meeting hall and decided to meet by a tennis court. They swear to " never separate and meet wherever."
  • Reign of Terror
  • Parisians assemble outside the Bastille. They wanted to take weapons they believed were stocked in the Bastille. They took over the Bastille but found no weapons. Although there were no weapons, they still felt a sense of victory for taking it over.
  • Napoleon's Rise to Power
  • I am now the Emperor of France.
  • The radicals take control of the National Assembly. All men now have the right to vote. France is now a republic of safety and the new government putd Louis XVI on trial and is executed.
  • Reforms
  • The Committee of Public Safety goes on a killing spree. Approximately 7,000 people were beheaded. Approximately 40,000 people tot
  • Napoleon gained politicall power from the directory. Victories made him a known war hero. Napoleon overthrows the directory and takes the title of the "first consul." Napoleon the declares himself emperor of France. He had plebiscites because the people hated monarcy.
  • Reforms controlled prices, built rodes, canals and other infrastructures. Reforms won support from all people and high paying jobs and political positions were awarded to people with talent. Emigres were welcomed if they pledged loyalty.
