- Wow, the forest is so beautiful!
- Yea it really is!
- They got cut down because of sustainable forestry
- Where did all of the trees go?
- Its the balance between the number of trees chopped down to the number of trees planted
- Whats sustainable forestry?
- Ya but who's in charge of it
- And where do they do it besides here in New Hampsire
- Maine has the most forestland in the US, with New Hampsire coming in close second
- Federal agencies, like the US Forest Service and the National Parks Service are in charge of it
- How is sustainable forestation relavent to the US?
- They do it so that there's a long-term supply of wood
- Its relavent because it supplies jobs, for example, loggers who cut down trees and people who work in paper mills
- And why are they doing it?
- What would happen if sustainable development continued?
- If it continued, we won't run out of wood, as long as it is maintained
- But if there's not sustainable forestry, then there would be deforestation and we would run out of wood
- Wouldn't it also hurt the animals that rely on the trees
