Storyboard Text

  • We have to leave. Our people and our animals will not live without food.
  • Egypt, it is!
  • Let's go to Egypt. There is a surplus in food, there is a long river called the Nile, and there is fertile soil.
  • Well, sucks for you because I am NOT letting them go!
  • You have to let the Hebrews go!
  • Look children! The Angel of Death is passing over our home because of the lamb's blood...
  • It's freezing out here!
  • The Patriarch Abraham made a covenant with God promising that if he and his family left Ur and traveled to Canaan, that one day, it would be his descendants Promised Land. Years later, a famine struck in Canaan. Abraham’s grandson, Jacob and his family fled to Egypt. Over time, the Israelites grew more numerous and the Pharaoh became mistrustful of them and their Monotheistic religion, causing the Pharaoh to enslave them.

  • Moses was a Hebrew who was raised in the Palace of the Pharaoh in Egypt. He wanted to leave the palace because the Pharaoh was slaving the Hebrews. Moses asked to let the Hebrews go, but the Pharaoh would not agree.

  • Here are the 10 Commandments. These are sacred. Protect them.

  • Sickness, swarms of insects, and lastly the death of the firstborn son were some of the punishments that the Pharaoh and the Egyptians experienced. Moses tells the Hebrews to smear lamb's blood over their doorways, so that when the Angel of Death flies over Egypt, he/she will pass over their homes, causing the death of the first born son to be spared.

  • After the final punishment, he Pharaoh demanded that the Hebrews leave. Moses led the Hebrews to the bottom of a mountain to wait while he went to talk to God. The Freedom of the Hebrews is called the Exodus and is remembered during the week of Passover.
  • On Mt. Sinai, Moses received the 10 Commandments from God. The 10 Commandments are important because they are laws to help the Hebrews maintain ethical behavior.
  • After a long period of time, a man named Joshua led the Israelites into the city and on the way, they conquered Jericho. After defeating the city, they defeated a few more small cities... that opened up space for them and so they settled in the NorthWest and East.
