Sir Kamaswami, we are becoming similar.
Why are you leaving! You have everything you could ever desire here!
Siddhartha is left all alone on his journey towards enlightenment. He doesn’t fit in with anyone, but he is determined to continue on to his destiny.
Siddhartha visits Kamaswami, a wealthy merchant, and is offered a job. Through his time working, he becomes more and more like Kamaswami, which is keeping him from enlightenment.
Siddhartha lives a life of material possessions and worries for years. One night he had a dream of Kamala’s (Siddhartha’s lover) songbird. He tossed it away just as he tossed away his good qualities for money. So, he decided to leave.
