  • My name is Mwajuma Bilombele. I was born in Nyarugusu camp, Tanzania and live their for 12 years then we moved to the US. And this story is a documentary for where I used to live.
  • Nyarugusu camp is one of the largest and best known for 21st-century camp. It located in western Kigoma, Tanzania.
  • Nyarugusu camp was created in 1996 by the UNHCR after an estimated 150,000 Congolese refugees from the eastern Sud-Kivu region of the DRC.
  • At that time of period, many Congolese people were crossing the border into Tanzania escaping the civil war.
  • Right now, many Congolese people remained in the camp for decades without leaving the camp to work, trade, or go to school.
  • In 2015 many Burundian refugees arrive in Tanzania to escape riots and civil unrest in Burundi. Amd now Tanzania is one of the world´s most generous refugee-hostiing countries.
