- Viruses. Dangerous and deadly. But what are they?
- We always hear about Covid-19 and SARS, but do you really know what viruses are? Viruses are parasites that spread around and are usually very dangerous. Take Covid-19 for example.
- But let’s take a closer look at how they start.Viruses usually start in animals. Take the bat for example. Ebola started with bats and scientists are speculating about bats causing Covid-19!
- When Viruses from animals spread onto us humans, it becomes a Zoonotic disease.
- This is when things get a bit ugly. The virus enters the human body and begins to replicate.
- Picture of viruses and voice over:Viruses cannot replicate without a host. So it needs to spread onto humans. It enters our body and penetrates our cells. They inject their genetic code into the cell and hijacks it, creating new virus particles. The cell dies and the new virus particles spread onto other cells.
