  • Def: Every person in society looks the same and leads similar lives. People must conform to strict policies of uniformityDescribe:  In the Bokanovsky process 1 egg divides into 8-96 identical human embryos (ch 1, pg 6)Answer: This scene shows how there can be 96 identical twins who all look the same.

  • Bernard is an Alpha Plus psychologist and is one of the few man allowed to go to the savage reservation 
  • Def: similarly, individuals are not allowed to exercise their freewill individuals are under constant surveillance, and they are punished for independent thoughts and actions  Describe: Mustapha Mond told Helmholts and Bernard they are going to be sent to an island for the soma incident (ch 16, Pg 226)Answer: This goes with the idea that because Helmholtz and Bernard were caught for being part of the soma incident thay are being sent away so that it win't happen again.

  • Def: a corrupt leader of government demands to be worshiped & obeyed by its citizens. The government uses propaganda to brainwash its citizens to obey its leaders. Conform to society, & fear the evils & dangers of the natural outside world. Describe: The children are played a voice-recording while they sleep to brainwash them about their place in societyAnswer: This connects with corrupt government because they are teaching kids from a young age what their place is in society. 
  • Unexpected Hero 
  • Def: The majority of the population lives in a dehumanizing state of squalor. While an elite few have knowledge & power. People are segregated into groups with roles & unequal access to powerDescribe: Lenina is thinking about the trip to the savage reservation in New Mexico, which only a few people can go. Since Bernard is an alph plus psychologist he is allowed to go (ch 6 pg88)Answer: This scene shows that only because Bernard is and Alph-plus he is allowed to go to the place that is prohibited to go. Since he is part of the elite he can do and see things others can't
