Priests, Kings, Nobles, and Government Officials are at the top, and have the most power. Merchants and Artisans are in the middle, and had little power. Slaves are at the bottom, therefore held no power. Scribes helped record laws, and contracts. Sumerians believe that the gods gave the people at the top their power.

Religion is the most important part of Sumerian's life! They grow crops, and settle disputes, to try and please the gods. Sumerians built temples, and towers called Ziggurats, where they expose their beliefs. One of the King's duty's was taking care of the Ziggurats, which are made of mud bricks, and are huge! They can be seen from over miles away, and the people actually believe that the gods lived in them. They have long, big, stairs so that the gods could come down to earth. Some ceremonies included human sacrifices!
The lyre is a smaller version of a harp, typically made of wood and strings. Metal workers made weapons/ cups/ and decorative items(jewelry)! Sumerians believe that their music brings joy to the gods.
Sledges are like sleds. They are used for transporting goods, by dragging it. The idea of the wheel came from pottery. Sumerians discovered it could spin, flip, roll, and more. So they use the spinning disk in pottery, for farmer carts and chariots for the Army. They make wheels out of wood.
Sumerians created a language called Cuneiform. They use sharp wedges to carve it into clay tablets. Cuneiform is used for recording goods/ information people trade. They use Pictographs as symbols for objects. Cuneiform is based on Pictograph.
