  • It was circa 1476, and Francisco Pizarro was born in Trujillo, Spain to Francisca González Mateos and Gonzalo Pizarro y Rodriguez. 
  • PERU'S NEW CAPITAL LIMA
  • Pizarro grew up in a very poor family. His father was a farmer, so he spent a lot of his childhood herding his father's pigs.
  • In 1513, Pizarro joined Vasco Nunez de Balboa on an expedition, and they ended up discovering the Pacific Ocean. 
  • Spain
  • Pizarro and his brothers conquered Peru in 1532. Three years later, Pizzaro also then founded Lima, or the nation's new capital.
  • Pizarro also made many voyages to South America. He sailed in search of gold and other treasures. However, many of his journey's ended in failure. 
  • Spain was able to colonize a lot of South America because of Francisco Pizarro's explorations. Pizarro's explorations also brought Spain a lot of riches in gold, silver, and foods.
