Rambo the lamb wanted to get back to his friend Duke at the fair. But when he started walking he ran into a cow blocking the walkway. The cow is standing 15 ft away from him at a height of 5 ft tall. He wants to know what angle he has to jump to make it over the cow. So he uses trig and discovers that tan(x)= 5/15=0.333= tan(0.333)=18.4.
So Rambo took a running leap and jumps, creating an angle of exactly 18.4 degrees between the top of the cow and the spot he was standing at. Once he cleared the cow he then found his friend Duke trapped in a pen. In order to get to Rambo, Duke must jump the gate
At his best Duke can jump at a 80 degree angle and go about 4 feet. But he doesn't know how tall the gate is, so he uses sine to figure out how tall the gate is. sin(80)=G/4=0.98. So the gate is 3.92 feet tall.
Once Duke was free the two of them set off to enjoy the fair. They started in the sheep barn. As they walked through the barn they looked at the babies and the moms, and the dads. But as they got to the end the of barn a big ram was blocking the door.
The ram wasn't moving anytime soon so they were gonna have to jump over it. They could jump at a 60 degree angle they would need to jump 7 feet high to make it over the ram. But they don't know how far away from the ram they are. So they use cosine to help them. cos(60)=x/7=cos(0.5)=x/7=3.5. They figure out the ram is only 3.5 feet away from them so they go for it and take the jump.
Once they made the jump they ran home, and they made it home just as the farmer was closing the gate for the night. They went inside their stall and fell asleep for the night and dreamed sweet dreams of the fair.
