Once, while Jesus was preaching, a lawyer stood up and asked Jesus what should he do to achieve an eternal life. Jesus asked him what he read in the bible. The lawyer answered: "You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your strength, with all your mind, and your neighbor as yourself." Then the lawyer asked...
Jesus narrated a story for the man to find the answer he was seeking...
But who is my neighbor?
The answer to that question is not so simple. Let me explain it to you in a different way.
A man was going down from Jerusalem to Jericho, and fell into the hands of robbers, who stripped him, beat him, and went away, leaving him half dead.
A few minutes later, a priest was walking down the same road. He pretended not to see the Jew and just passed by him.
An hour later, another man, called a Levite, was walking down the road but then, again, also pretended not to see the Jew and just passed by him.
Then he put him in his own animal, brought him to an inn, and took care of him.
Then, a Samaritan while travelling came near where the man was; and when he saw him, he was moved with pity. He went to him and bandaged his wounds, having poured oil and wine on them...
The lawyer replied, "The one who sowed him mercy." Jesus said to him, " Go and do likewise."
When Jesus finished the story, He asked...
Which of these three, do you think, was a neighbor to the man who fell into the hands of the robbers?
