  • Hooke's most important contribution was discovering cells by looking at them though a microscope and naming them cells since there shape looked like a cell.
  • Robert Hooke was an English  philosopher and scientist who made many great discovering during his life
  • Matthias Jakob Schleiden was a German botanist who co founded cell theory. In 1838 he determined cells were the basic unit of all plant life.
  • Theodor Shwann was also a co founder in cell theory. He was anatomist and physiologist who discovered that cells are the basic of animal structure.
  • Virchow used the theory that all cells come from preexisting cells. He used this to figure out things like knowing that disease occurs at the cellular level.
  • Rudolph Virchow made many good discoveries and is best known or his contribution to cell theory
  • Robert Brown was a Scottish botanist, what he contributed to cell theory was that he discovered the nucleus of a cell in 1831
