The Motif "Number Seven" In "All Summer in a Day" Presentation By Sophie Ren
The "Number Seven" in the Bible means the searcher of truth.
Notice that the letter "T" in the word "Truth" is formed by two 7. And the sevens are oppositely combined. It is just like a mirror. The one outside the mirror is the Truth, and the one reflected by the mirror is known as the "False Truth".
The Number Seven is also connecting with the seven virtues and vices
The seven virtues are opposite to the seven deadly sins: Humility against pride, Kindness against envy, Abstinence against gluttony, Chastity against lust, Patience against anger, Liberality against greed, and Diligence against sloth.
In the story "All Summer in a Day". The "Children" lock Margot in the closet due to their Envy. Envy also knew as Jealousy. They are jealous of Margot's experience. They are jealous of that Margot knows what the sun looks like but they don't know. The "Children" shows no Empathy when locking Margot in the closet. After they let Margot out, that Margot shows a great kindness. Based on their apologetic face, and she knows that they have learned something important in their life.
