Storyboard Text

  • I pray thee, good Mercutio, let’s retire. The day is hot, the Capulets abroad,And if we meet, we shall not scape a brawl
  • I do protest I never injured thee,....And so, good Capulet, which name I tenderAs dearly as mine own, be satisfied.
  • This shall not excuse the injuriesThat thou hast done me; therefore turn and draw
  • I am for you.
  • Benvolio and Mercutio are in a public space discussing the heat that will bring the Capulets to start a fight and Benvolio pleads that they leave.
  • This shall determine that.
  • Thou, wretched boy, that didst consort him here,Shalt with him hence.
  • Tybalt arrives demanding a fight with Romeo who arrives shortly after, and insists there is no need for fight and everything can be resolved with love.
  • ..Could draw to part them, was stout Tybalt slain; And, as he fell, did Romeo turn and fly. This is the truth, or let Benvolio die.
  • Mercurio thinking Romeo can't fight, decides to duel Tybalt so their house is not disrespected.
  • And for that offenseImmediately we do exile him hence.
  • After Benvolio returns from taking Mercutio to their houses he returns with news that he died and Romeo then turns to fight Tybalt in his honor, and kills him.
  • Romeo flees after realizing what he's done. As the Prince, Capulets, and Montegues arrive ,Benlovio explains what happened .
  • Instead giving Romeo a death sentence as he previously said he would, the Prince recognizes that Romeo was only defending Mercutio's honor and banishes him from Verona forever.
