  • May I come into your home to do a search.
  • You may come in and search.
  • You may not come into my home.
  • Why are you in my house! I did not give you permission to look at my belongings in my room.
  • You are under arrest for possession of illegal substances
  • Is it legal for police to look in my house if another resident who is not being searched gives them permission?
  • You have the right to remain silent. Anything you say can and will be used against you in a court of law. You have the right to an attorney. If you cannot afford an attorney, one will be appointed for you.
  • We are hearing this case on March 22, 2006. You may begin.
  • We are suing Georgia under the 4th Amendment for unlawful search and seizure of evidence.
  • We have ruled in a 5 to 3 decision in favor of Randolph.

  • The Supreme Court ruled in my favor. The majority opinion said if one owner is telling the police that they can come in, it does not matter if one owner did say yes because it has to be a shared opinion. They said the search did not have enough information to meet the 4th Amendment.
