My Storyboard A Farmer Family's Work Ellie Ganske
In the early 1900's Families were just settling in the US! Some families were farmers like this family They bought a big piece of land and had to build a home and provide food for themselves
Men and young boys went to get lumber for their house in town They also got cattle and a wagon And other things to provide for their family at the farm
This is an average house a family would build during this time Everyday is hard work They are Subsistance Farmers (that means they only make enough food for themselves or to trade with neighbors)
Women have lots of work Cooking, Cleaning And taking care of their children
Men hunt for their families And work hard days on the farm Older boys help their father with these tasks
Children have hard work on the farm too. Most don't go to school. Overall it is hard work to be a farmer.
