This events are evidence of the class divide betweent the socs and the greasers.
Johnny kills Bob
This was a disturbing moment because thing got real and what was suppose to be a fight ended in murder
Ponyboy is one of the main characters. He is not your typical greaser because he likes to read and is a little naive. He was walking home one day from the movies, and he noticed that a red Corvair was following him. Pony later gets jumped.
Ponyboy and Johnny run into a burning church to save little kids.
Pony, Dally, Johnny all go to a drive-in and meet Cherry and her friend. They go to the same school, and Pony tells Johnny and Cherry about how he got jumped. Dally gets into an argument with Cherry. She splashes coke in his face and then he storms off mad. Not too long after Two Bit sneaks up on them and Johnny gets scared. Later Ponboy,Two bit and Johnny walk the girls home and run into Bob, a soc, but also Cherry's boyfriend. They try to start a fight, but Cherry stops them.
Later at the park the socs with a blue Mustang find Johnny and Ponyboy and they argue. Then the socs push Johnny down, grab Pony and try to drown him in the fountain. Johnny jumps up and stabs Bob in with his pocket knife. When Pony wakes up, he sees Johnny with the knife and Bob dead on the floor
Johnny is really burned. The next day in the newspaper, the boys are considered heroes after saving a bunch of little kids from a burning abondoned church that they were staying at. Later Randy, a soc, talks to Ponyboy about how great Bob was. Afterwards, Pony and Two Bit go and vist Johnny at the hospital to tell him about the rumble. Cherry tells the greasers the terms and rules of the fight. Later in the night, the rumble begins and the greasers win. Then Dally and Pony go to the hospital and Johnny dies.
Dally storms out and Pony goes home and tells the guys that Johnny died. Dally robs a store and calls the guys to come get him and continues running from the police. They get Dally cornered, and he pulls out his gun and the officers open fire killing Dally. The guys run up to aid Dally, but Ponyboy passes out from his concussion. Later, all three of the brothers attend court and are acuquitted and Ponyboy's teacher tells him to write a theme, so he writes about his expierience.
Ponyboy realizes people are too quick to judge and that greasers and socs really aren't all that different. Everyone has their own problems and Johnny teaches everyone that life goes by quickly, so enjoy it.
