  • Articles of Confederation
  • Shays' Rebellion
  • Constitutional Convention
  • The Articles of Confederation was the original U.S. constitution. The articles had many flaws that force the government to be weak. It also allowed all the states to be as independent as they wanted. When delegates from each state met it was supposed to update the document and change anything that didn't work.
  • The Virginia Plan
  • Shay's Rebellion was a series of attacks on government properties in Massachusetts. Most of the attackers where former soldiers. The attacks were so harsh that it led to a military confrontation.
  • The New Jersey Plan
  • The purpose of the Constitutional Convention was for delegates from each state to meet and revise the Articles of Confederation, it resulted in creating a completely different document.
  • Great Compromise and 3/5ths Compromise
  • The plan was for a bicameral legislative branch meaning there would be two different chambers, the House and Senate.
  • The New Jersey Plan was created by small states. The plan was for each state so have equal representation and power.
  • The states had more votes in congress the bigger population. The small states hated that because the larger states had more power, so they created the Great Compromise. The 3/5ths Compromise meant for every 5 slaves 3 would be counted as a white person.
