In 1745 King George II was the Protestant King of Britain. He was ‘Hanoverian’ as he came from Hanover.
Prince Charles Edward Stuart wanted to return to Britain to claim the throne back from him!
He sold items and borrowed money to buy 1 muskets, broadswords and cannons. He hired two French ships to take him to Scotland.
A British warship attacked the Elizabeth and she had to return to France.
He arrived in Eriskay and was told to go home. He then sailed to Lochaber and entered Scotland.
Charles secretly invited the Clan Chiefs to Lochaber to make plans for an uprising.
