  • After great victory over Union forces at Chancellorsville Lee Marched his army into PA.

  • The advancing Confederates clashed with the Union's army called the Potomac commanded by General George G. Meade
  • After Taking heavy casualties Robert E. Lee decides to send less then 15,000 troops at Cemetery Ridge

  • This turning point in the war inspired Lincoln's famous "Gettysburg Address" speech which became one of the most famous speeches of all time.
  • July 3 1863
  • Battle of Pickett's Charge, this attack by Lee failed as he was forced to withdrawal his army toward Virginia.
  • The union ended up winning this part of the war. This ended up being the turning point in the war, as they stopped Lee from invading the North.
