Storyboard Text

  • "I shall slay Tupa and win the king's reward!"
  • "Tell him, grandfather."
  • "Your father was one of the three fishermen in the canoe that Tupa destroyed."

  • Mako and grandfather were talking about the ghost of the lagoon, Tupa. His grandfather told him that Tupa ate his father. Mako swore to get revenge.

  • External conflict: Character vs Nature: Mako vs Tupa

  • "It is Tupa- ghost of the laggon, Mako has killed him!"
  • Mako and Afa go on an expedition to get more bananas and as they go Mako questions himself if Tupa could be killed with a spear. He then decides to confront Tupa that night. When it was getting dark Mako and Afa get the bananas and begin heading home, then Mako fells weak until he sees a moving fin- a huge one. Mako suddenly realizes it is Tupa, ghost of the lagoon!
  • Resolution
  • "Thirty acres of land and a sailing canoe!"
  • Afa fell overboard. Mako speared Tupa's eye.
  • As Mako shouted for joy after killing Tupa, he began to paddle toward the shore of Bora Bora with Tupa's fin in Mako's  hand. Men ran down to the beaches of Bora Bora seeing that Mako killed Tupa were leaping and shouting with joy as the ghost of the lagoon, Tupa finally died.
  • As the tired Mako was laying down on the mat, his grandfather was singing the song which would be sang the next day at the feast King Opu Nui would have in Mako's honor. Meanwhile Mako saw his mother bending over the cook fire.
