railroads & farming
"The Cattle Kingdom" was when the cattle industry grew tremendously two decades after the Civil War. It grew in Kansas, Nebraska, Colorado, Wyoming, Montana, and the Dakotas. This happened in the 1870's and 1880's with the expansion of railroads.
When the oil boom at Spindletop happened in 1901, it made a huge impact on the community. This is when a oil rig in Beaumont, Texas exploded and oil went EVERYWHERE.
Railroads were better than any other kind of transportation. They are good for carrying heavy loads for long distances. They also are good because they dont get caught in traffic and they are fast.
