Storyboard Text

  • Hey, Jody I heard you were wondering about a transverse wave. We're currently learning about them in school.
  • A transverse wave moves the medium, which could be a solid, liquid or gas perpendicular to the direction in which the wave moves.
  • Do you hear that ? That's the sound of the wave moving through the water. Transverse wave impact humans on a daily basis because we are able to generate renewable electricity from wave motion
  • Chole: Sure chase, Well an example of a Transverse wave would consider the waves of a string such as a guitar or a human wave
  • Chase: Hey Chloe can you give me some examples of a transverse wave
  • An example of Transverse wave is the waves on vibrating strings. Pianos and guitars both use vibrating strings to produce music. A guitar string’s motion can be described as a transverse wave because it oscillates up and down perpendicular to its axis of motion
  • Guitar strings in transverse waves impacts us because we can hear how the sound vibrates while playing the instrument.
