Traveling was a challenge because of unpaved roads, mud, and sharp objects. The people here are traveling. Only the rich were able to ride horses, and the others would walk or stay in the wagon.
Farming was difficult because of the lack of flat land. They created wide earth steps to grow crops that needed little water, and raised sheep and goats.
Before starting a colony, they had prepare. They consulted with an oracle, gathered supplies, and looked for a good location.
When people were sailing on merchant ships, they had no navigation tools such as compasses. They used the stars, but they could not track any dangers lying ahead.
