- Today we are going to talk about discrimination in History.
- Why do we have to study History? It’s dumb!
- I feel kinda bad now for how I treated Joe. I was bias against him because he was different.
- We study History so we don’t repeat the same mistakes. We have been talking about discrimination, right? What has happened in the past that tells us it is bad?
- Rascism and slavery are examples of prejudice, it is a judgement based on stereotypes. This happened a lot in the past and now we don’t have slavery and know that discriminastyion was and is wrong.
- I experienced prejudice this morning. I don’t like that I am treated differently because I am different than other kids.
- Who cares what happened back then, we don’t have slaves anymore. Roger over there is my friend I don’t care that he’s black.
- That is a good example, you don’t look at Roger any differently because we have fried the rascism from the past. People have learned that it is not ok. We learned from History.
- And I’m not any different either. There have been crimes against gays, it used to not even be talked about. Now kids like me can be who we are.
- Well, I guess that kind of makes sense.
- That’s right, people can be discriminated against for many different things and we know that is bad. Without knowing history, we would keep repeating mistakes.
