Psst. Hey, miss hears a few things you should know before my mother serves lunch.
In our home if it is time for lunch and you come to visit my family typically, my mother will invite you to have lunch with us.
Opps, I forgot to remind you that we'll be watching tv while eating
We kind of skipped tradition on this one. After all we are a Yemeni-Canadian family
Here's what is on the menu
Well miss you and we hope you learned more about our Yemeni culture. Also, come visit in Ramadan you may be in for a treat.
-Begin eating by saying the name of god -Eat with the right hand -No going on your phone while eating -Finish eating and say thanks to god -When family or friends are over both the girls and boys eat separately.
In a our Yemeni household we eat with a mat on the floor called a sufra while watching tv. The girls and the boys eat separately if there is a guest. So, you will be eating with the girls.
And that concludes a typical visit for lunch in a Yemeni household.
