  • Joe and Linda reporting on the rankings for the top 10 soccer cleats
  • And it looks like the rankings are in.
  • Let's take a closer look into these rankings.
  • RunRepeat has ranked the 10 best soccer cleats according to users.
  • RunRepeat uses a number of different ratings from experts and regular users to calculate what the best cleat is.
  • Let's check out what soccer cleat they ranked number 1.
  • Some of you veiwers out there might be wondering how they get these rankings.
  • The Adidas Predator Freak+ cleat is ranked #1. With a rating of 93% according to 84 users and 3 experts.
  • No surprise that the Adidas Predator Freak+ is #1 but let's focus in on the experts.
  • The first expert we will look at is Soccer Cleats 101. This is a blog written by an ex-profesional soccer player. He only rated the cleats a 78% because they were somewhat uncomfortable and were difficult to break in.
  • Yeah, RunRepeat uses ratings from a number of different people but it's important to focus on what the experts think.
  • Upon further investigation, it doesn't seem like this source is a valid expert. They show no proof of who wrote the article so we do not know if the information came from a true expert.
  • Next we will look at Authentic Football Shop who ranked the cleats a 98%. They are a sports news website that cover a variety of different sports.
  • I agree, lets move on to the next expert.
  • The final expert we will look at is the Champions Journal. They rated the cleats a 93%.
  • It looks like RunRepeat used fake experts to help validate the answers they received. This is a simple case of misleading viewers.
  • I'm confused. The Champions Journal is a website devoted to mixing sports with graphic design. I do not feel that this is an expert source either. Once again, there is no proof that the person who wrote this is an expert.
  • This is a common trick used to fool viewers into believing in data. At first glance the information seems trustworthy because they give a believable way that they collect their data. If they were to say that they compiled reviews from a variety of people on a variety of websites it would have been valid but untrustworthy. They added that they reviewed experts as well as professional players so that viewers would trust the data. Although they listed experts, if you were to investigate these experts you would see that a majority of them were fake. Some of the reviews they used were certified experts but some that were listed as experts had no credentials. This is a clear manipulation of data and completely destroys all trust you can have in the rankings. If you are ever using data given by an "expert", make sure you know they are a true expert. If a source relys on a certain aspect of their data to make the data reliable, then often times they can fake that aspect.
