"Hey boy, I am glad to see you. Come, take care of the fields".
Fredrick Douglass has been a slave for a long time. Fredrick has been working long and hard. He got very tired, then really sick, and fell on his knees. "Thump!', his body became a ragdoll. Douglass attamped to get up.
Fredrick is scared of being beaten, so he ran away into the forest. Jesus has blessed him with a chance to escape. Douglass ran or a long time, but got very tired after a few hours. He started walking, "Covey will never find me here" thought Fredrick.
After a few days, Fredrick decides to come back. It is evening and the master is waiting for him to return. Covey- the slave master greets him- "Hey boy, I am glad to see you. Come, take care of the fields". Covey was going to beat him but refrained for some other time.
In the morning Douglass is called over to take care of the horses. Covey creepily crept up behind, and attacked Douglass. This was planned by Covey as a punishment for Douglass running away.
The 2 get into a fight. They fought for many hours, going at it hit for hit. In the end Douglass wins. Douglass fought like an animal, he was tired of the abusive slave owner always beating him and taking advantage of his life.
From now on, Covey does not beat Dougalss, or touch him. Since Douglass fought Covey and won, he now has more motivation to be free, and escape slavery forever. "I will always stand up for myself", Douglass thought as he was working with the pigs.
