Storyboard Text

  • Life for people living in Europe was normal, World War 1 had ended and everything was at peace. No one really knew of the troubles they would have to endure in the years to come.
  • On January 30, 1933, Hitler is appointed Chancellor of Germany.  A little over a year later, the President of Germany, Paul von Hindenburg dies and Hitler is established as dictator.
  • On September 15, 1935, Nuremberg Laws were established.  German Jews and "non-Aryans" were striped of their citizenships, many of them were banned from some places.
  • Nazi ransacked Jewish homes, business, and synagogues across Germany in an event known as Kristallnacht or Night of the Broken Glass on November 9, 1938.  91 deaths total.
  • Many Jews were transported to concentration camps in cattle car with no windows.  The ride to the camp was uncomfortable and many got sick on the way.
  • Concentration camps were never pleasant.  None of the Jews were ever fed properly causing some to die of malnutrition instead of the other brutal death that many other Jews had to face.
