Oh wow. We have a lot of things to study for the exam.
You betcha. How are we going to finish all this?
We have to stay up all night, I guess.
We will burn the midnight oil!
Awesome! Let's start on History.
Okay! First we need to know what History is.
It says here that History was derived from the greek word Historia which means "knowledge acquired through inquiry or investigation." History as a discipline existed for around 2,400 years and is as old as mathematics and philosophy.
History wa salso focused on writing about wars, revolutions, and other important breakthrough. Traditional historians lived with the mantra "no document, no history"
But what about the peasant families or indigenous who where not given much thought about being registered to government records? Did they even exist?
This loophole was recognized by historians who started using other kinds of historical sources, which may not be in wriiten form but were just as valid. Like songs, artifacts, oral tradition, architechture or memory.
So in general, historical sources can be classified between primary and Secondary sources. It says here that primary sources produced at the same time as the event, period, or subject being studied.
While Secondary source are those sources which were produced by an author who used primary sources to produce the material. We'll take note of the External and Internal Criticism too.
