First Mate Dan shook the Captain until his eyes bulged open ( mezzo forte/forte speed represents his shock for getting waked up and even more shocked to hear that the crates and his crewman went out into the sea ).
Captain Conner tried to take hold of the wheel but it spun by itself ( raising the volume to a vivace/presto ). Their ship was the one taking them on a journey.
