Storyboard Text

  • "True!- nervous- very, very dreadfully nervous... but why will you say that I am mad?"
  • The narrator speaks directly to the reader- stating that he is nervous, but not crazy.
  • Because of the old man's vulture eye, the narrator decides to kill the old man.
  • "I think it was his eye! yes, it was this! He had the eye of a vulture- a pale blue eye, with a film over it."
  • Every night at midnight, for 7 nights the narrator watches the old man sleep in his chamber.
  • It is nothing but the wind in the chimney...
  • On the 8th night the narrator murders the old man.
  • "I was never kinder to the old man than during the whole week before I killed him."
  • The narrator opens that door to the officers like nothing happened. Then he hears his heart beat get louder.
  • "It grew louder- louder- louder!"
  • The narrator confesses that he killed the old man.
  • "Villains!" " I shrieked, dissemble no more! I admit the deed!- tear up the planks! here, here!"- "It's the beating of his hideous heart!"
